Individual Counselling

Counselling offers a way to gather information, support and build the tools and strength you need on your journey to recover. We recognize that each person is unique, and so is their path to healing. Counselling services at Amelia Rising are always free and confidential.

Individual Counselling for Survivors

Trauma-informed individual counselling sessions are available in a non-judgmental, supportive environment for people 12 years of age and older who have experienced recent or historical sexual and/or gender-based violence. It is based on a holistic approach that considers individual needs with a goal of empowerment, healing, and providing tools to allow you to make informed choices and direct the process in a way that is right for you.

Support Sessions for Supporters

When someone discloses their experience of sexual or gender-based violence to you, it can be a lot to hold. Whether you’re a partner, parent, friend, or family member, it’s normal to feel overwhelmed, uncertain, or worried about doing or saying the right thing.

Our Support for Supporters program offers brief, supportive intervention sessions for those in a supportive role. These sessions provide space to talk through your experience, gain tools for navigating conversations, and opportunities to learn how to show up for your loved one – while also caring for yourself.
