Our History, Mandate and Vision

Amelia Rising Sexual Assault Centre of Nipissing was incorporated in 1994. We have a Board of Directors and other volunteers who staff our crisis lines, our front reception, work in our Resource Centre and assist with public education workshops and other events. Each year, we accept placement students from local or regional colleges and universities, as well as from more international settings.

Our paid staff provide individual and group counselling in French and English, coordination of the volunteer program, as well as rural and diverse community outreach and development. They are also involved in special projects, usually with other groups or agencies, to help us achieve our goal of eliminating sexual violence against women and children.

Our Board of Directors meets monthly and they reflect the diversity of our region. With their hard work and commitment to the organization, they form part of our strong volunteer base - who are celebrated each Fall at our Annual General Meeting.

Our paid staff complement consists of a Bilingual Outreach Coordinator, a Volunteer Coordinator/Administrator, two Counsellors, and an Executive Director.
