What is Sexual Assault?

Sexual Assault is any unwanted sexual activity that one person forces upon another. It includes being kissed, fondled or forced to have sexual intercourse against your will.

Sexual assault can occur on a date, within a marraige or in any relationship, regardless of sexual orientation. It is a crime of violence, power and control.

  • 1 in 4 Canadian women will be sexually assaulted in her lifetime, half of these sexual assaults will be against women under the age of 16
  • Women with disabilities are at least twice as likely to be sexually assaulted
  • 69% of women are assaulted by men known to them
  • No woman ever asks or deserves to be sexually assaulted
  • Whatever a woman wears, wherever she goes, whomever she talks to... a 'NO' means 'NO' !

If You Are Sexually Assaulted...

  1. Talk to someone you trust. Remember you are not alone and you are not to blame. It's normal to feel many different emotions for a period of time. The person who has chosen to hurt you is responsible for the

  4. Write down what you remember about the assault. If you wish to report to the police, try not to urinate, douche or change clothes, since evidence may need to be collected.
